Hosting Live Events

I love uploading… and blog-writing but I was consider doing something more exciting, more real: live workshops and photo walks. What do you think of that?

It is through living that we discover ourselves, at the same time as we discover the world around us.

I know that my online audience is geographically disperse, it is not simple to promote and organize an in-real-life meetup. In addition to promoting my live event online I also want to reach out to local photography community.
If it is your first time hearing of a photo walk in your life let me break it down for you: it is simply a walking tour with an focus on photography. The photography walks often take place in beautiful natural settings, such as botanical gardens or in architecturally interesting historic areas, such as charming old towns.

For all live events, I specify the equipment requirements so it is clear for anyone attending my event (e.g. I remind my folks to bring backup batteries and chargers). Furthermore, I choose maps, specify times, locations, materials, as well as inform attendees if and when changes occur.

Since group photo walks should be there to share enthusiasm and creativity – I am doing as much as possible to bring down the costs and have them free of charge. For sure, I bring something unique and valuable to the experience — something worth supporting: my photography walks include on-the-fly instruction and tips, occasionally access to a non-public area, and having either a panel discussion or a general pre- and post-walk talk.

Another thought that recently crossed my mind was to organize a joint workshop. I have been networking with another local photographer and I was considering pooling our resources and
hosting a community event together. Together we can create even more valuable live content, and give attendees a wealth of diverse knowledge, areas of expertise, personalities,
and perspectives. Since we both are living in a photogenic area (think of Padova and Venezia!) that attracts a lot of visitors, hosting a photo walk is a great way to meet and interact with local photography enthusiasts.

Please feel free to write me with tips and suggestions in organizing these live events!
